Japan Production Support
Local production
support in Japan.
The practical side of filming here — planning, locations, timing, movement between them, and someone who can handle the parts of the day that happen in Japanese.
What It Covers
The part of filming in Japan that isn’t on the shot list.
Japan rewards preparation. Locations run on their own timing, travel between two points can take longer than the map suggests, and the small practical questions — which entrance, which counter, who to ask — add up over a filming day.
Production support is how we remove those frictions. It is planning done in advance and decisions made on the ground, so your crew can stay focused on the work rather than on the logistics around it.
- Location and schedule planning before the shoot
- Basic Japanese communication on the ground
- Route planning and realistic travel timing
- Equipment transport between locations
- Parking and tolls handled as part of the day
- Adjusting quickly when production plans change
How It Fits Together
Filming and logistics are quoted separately.
These are two different things, and we keep them clearly apart so you always know what you are paying for.
Documentary cinematography
The camera work itself — observational filming following one person or a small team through the day. This is the core service and it is priced in day rates.
Transportation & logistics
Production transport and the logistics around the shoot — available if you want it, quoted separately from the filming days. Transportation, tolls, parking, long-distance travel and accommodation are all priced individually.
Preparation
A useful checklist before you arrive.
None of this has to be final — rough answers are enough to start planning against. The earlier we know, the more of it we can work out in advance rather than on the day.
Permissions, access and venue rules vary by location and are handled case by case. We will tell you what a given place requires rather than assume it.
- Your project or story, in a sentence or two
- Dates you are in Japan
- Cities and specific locations you have in mind
- How many filming days you expect
- An approximate schedule for each day
- How many people will be on camera
- Whether you want transportation and logistics support
